Matthew Trapp joins Sandstone Group as Director of Public Affairs.
Matthew has extensive knowledge of government, both at the federal and provincial levels. Prior to joining Sandstone Group, Matthew worked as manager of operations and special projects for a minister in the Ontario government. Between 2012 and 2016, Matthew worked on Parliament Hill in Ottawa as a parliamentary assistant for two Members of Parliament.
Additionally, he has also had the opportunity to use his government relations skills for two public affairs firms in the areas of health and wellness, cannabis, natural resources and energy.
Matthew’s experience has allowed him to develop expertise in communication strategies, policy development and advocacy. He enjoys organizing and leading public affairs campaigns to help drive awareness and shape decision-making.
One of Matthew’s proudest accomplishments is that he created an internship program at the University of Ottawa that matched students to municipal, provincial and federal political offices. Under his guidance, the program placed 70 student interns in professional political offices, and in the years since, hundreds of university students have obtained valuable internship experience on route to graduation and full-time professional employment.
